Radiesse

The Treatment Everyone’s Sleeping On (But I’m Not)

If you are in your 30s to 50s and beyond, Radiesse is a conversation you should be having with your injector.

A lot of people come in asking about filler, and most of the time, they are thinking about adding volume or fixing a specific area. And while that is part of it, what we are really seeing in this age range is a gradual loss of facial structure. It is not just about volume. It is about collagen loss, changes in skin quality, and loss of support under the surface of your skin.

Think of collagen and elastin as the support structures that underlie your skin, a scaffolding, if you will. As that scaffold begins to fall with age, the overlying structure (your skin) can appear to have less volume.

As we age, we lose collagen, elastin, and overall structural support in the face. That is what leads to sagging, hollowing, and that “tired” look people often describe. Radiesse acts as a support structure under the skin, and your body gradually builds collagen around it. Over time, the product integrates, and what you are left with is your own tissue helping maintain those results.

This is where Radiesse becomes really valuable, and honestly, one of the reasons I talk about it so much with my patients.

Radiesse is different from traditional fillers because it does more than just fill. Yes, it gives an immediate improvement, but it also works with your body over time by stimulating your own collagen production. That means we are not just placing the product and hoping for the best. We are actually encouraging your skin to rebuild and strengthen itself from within.

From a nursing perspective, that matters to me. I want to choose treatments that support the skin long term, not just create a temporary change.

One thing that most people do not realize is that Radiesse can also be diluted (hello, versatility!) and used in a completely different way. Instead of adding volume, we can use it to improve skin quality, texture, and firmness. This is especially helpful in areas like the lower face, jawline, neck, and even the hands, where skin can start to thin.

When I use Radiesse, my goal is always to keep things harmonious and undetectable. You should still look like yourself, just more refreshed and supported.

The results are not always instant in the way that lip filler can be, but in the weeks following treatment, your skin starts to look healthier, smoother, and more resilient.

If you have been thinking about facial balancing, but feel hesitant because you do not want to look overfilled, this is usually where I start the conversation. Treatments like this allow us to focus on restoring structure and improving skin quality in a way that ages well over time.

At the end of the day, elevated aesthetic work is not about changing the way your face looks; it is about supporting it in a way that is appropriate for you, and in a way that complements your anatomy.
